Retrospect..19 December 2011 year

Retrospect

In Soviet times letter writing, giving postcards and pictures as souvenirs were very popular.
The Retrospect project reveals this beautiful habit and presents to the public a small part of the archive of a teacher born and lived in the Soviet times.
By expressing wishes through cards and presenting photographs, people wanted to remind about their presence; it was a unique form of communication in human relations. While writing wishes, a man tries to approach this process creatively, grub his or her abilities in literature and painting. That is why the wishes and desires are frequently written in the form of poetry, prose, and sometimes with the decorated fonts. Moreover, this beautiful habit serves as a stimulus, even if with small steps, for creating warm human relationships, spreading love and respect towards each other.
This project is an attempt to elucidate some aspects of the Soviet culture, to preserve an opportunity for the dialogue between generations and promote their works.
It also gives an opportunity to the elder general to express their attitudes towards the former Soviet Union's culture, to show their memories, feelings, and share with the culture of that time.
To express their views about the ideas of the past to the younger generation, to understand and comprehend "father’s" world-view, which was formed in the Soviet Union time.
The first exhibition of the project is devoted to my mother Seda Hakobyan’s memory.
